Nearly 200,000 cases of Number 1 purified bottled water and 620 blocks of fresh water have just been donated by Tan Hiep Phat Company and Ho Chi Minh City Police Newspaper to the people of Ben Tre and Tien Giang provinces. According to leaders of Ba Tri district, Ben Tre province, this is the largest water donation program the district has received in recent days of drought and saltwater intrusion.

Faced with heat and prolonged drought, people in the Mekong Delta provinces, especially Ben Tre and Tien Giang, are facing deep saltwater intrusion and serious lack of fresh water. Faced with the difficulties people are going through, Tan Hiep Phat Company and Ho Chi Minh City Police Newspaper have organized a second round of “Droplets of Gratitude in 2024” to donate fresh water to the people of these two provinces.

Nearly 200,000 cases of Number 1 purified bottled waters have been delivered to people in drought-stricken areas in Ben Tre and Tien Giang provinces.

Accordingly, Tan Hiep Phat Company coordinated with Ho Chi Minh City Police Newspaper, Women’s Association, Tien Giang Police, Ben Tre Police, Ben Tre’s Department of Labor, Handicaps and Social Affairs to donate nearly 200,000 cases of purified bottled water and 620 blocks of fresh water for people in communes of Ben Tre and Tien Giang provinces.

“Doplet of gratitude” program took place from May 8 to May 12, reaching people at 5 distributions points, including: 4 points in Ben Tre (Ba Tri district, Chau Thanh district, Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Ben Tre Province, Ben Tre Provincial Police) and 1 point in Phuoc Trung commune, Go Cong Dong, Tien Giang province.

People in An Khanh commune, Chau Thành Municipal, Ben Tre District happily received purified water from “Droplets of gratitude in 2024″.

Dry season of 2023-2024 in Ben Tre province is expected to experience saltwater intrusion earlier, longer and more profoundly than in the last years. It was approximately the same level as the dry season of 2015-2016. Specifically, saline intrusion increased and peaked on the main rivers in March. 4% salinity level affects areas about 55-69 km from the main river openings; 1% salinity level affects about 70-79 km from the main river openings. Therefore, the lives of people in the region here are terribly affected.

Representatives of Ben Tre provincial authorities at all levels presented water to people in Vinh An commune, Chau Thanh.

Mr. Phan Van Loc – Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Chau Thanh district, Ben Tre province expressed, “In recent times, people in the district face many obstacles due to prolonged drought and saltwater intrusion. With the support of Tan Hiep Phat Company and Ho Chi Minh City Police Newspaper, we can support people in An Khanh, Quoi Son, Huu Dinh, An Phuoc, Phuoc Thanh commune with fresh water. On behalf of the local government, I sincerely thank you for this precious sentiment. Hopefully in the coming time, people here will continue to receive the support of the Newspaper and sponsors to overcome difficulties and contribute to local social security.”

Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung, representative of Tan Hiep Phat Company spoke with the people of Vinh An, Chau Thanh, Ben Tre communes
